PULSE

Real-Time Monitoring for Metrology Environments

Vibration, temperature, humidity, crash notifications, luminosity, air pressure and the coordinate measuring machine (CMM) current status – all in one convenient place.

PULSE is the user-friendly solution for connecting and monitoring your coordinate measuring machine (CMM). We implemented this system to be as easy and intuitive as possible, enabling you to select, navigate and consume vital machine environmental statistics that are ideally suited to today’s fast-paced lean manufacturing conditions.
Designed to ensure data integrity while also improving safety and security in modern shop-floor inspection conditions, PULSE uses a network of sensors to record variations in temperature, vibration and humidity in the vicinity of your CMM. Users can opt for wireless sensors to simplify installation and drive greater measuring flexibility in terms of sensor placement and increasing the number of sensors added to the system.

PULSE also offers equipment status alerts and crash notifications. All of this information is available on the central dashboard for operators to access at any time.

Through the implementation of new user experience (UX) features, users can immediately understand the information presented from the moment they enter the dashboard. The PULSE interface is simple and modern. Visually reminiscent of what you’re used to seeing in modern consumer technology, it is designed around simple iconography and touch gestures that already come naturally. Navigation is fluid and responsive and the arrangement is simple and orderly. All of which means you’ll know your way around PULSE in virtually no time.

With customisable sensor packages, PULSE is built to know your environment better. The CMM is your metrology hub for collecting data about your manufacturing and inspection processes, and PULSE is designed to support these quality control processes throughout the day. It provides a comprehensive picture of your inspection activities, suggests optimal measurement efficiencies and provides actionable information for your quality environment.

Vibration monitoring
Using a vibration accelerometer, PULSE can tell you when CMM data may be skewed due to excessive vibration caused by other workshop equipment.

Environmental monitoring
Temperature and humidity sensors constantly monitor the inspection environment and alert you to out of spec conditions, helping to explain anomalous measurements.

Collision notifications
PULSE’s crash accelerometer can stop the CMM and send you an alert if something unexpected happens to or on the machine, preventing damage and reducing downtime.

Luminosity Sensor
Designed specifically for our multisensor and optical systems, the luminosity sensor alerts you of any significant changes in illumination in the inspection location. Large swings in ambient light can affect the accuracy of your measurements.

Air Pressure Sensor
Air pressure swings can have a negative effect on your machine and, in some instances, completely stop the measurement routine running. The air pressure sensor will alert you of any high or low SI pressure that may cause concern. If the machine is running unattended, an alert will be sent to inform you of the event so you can attend to it immediately.

Status alerts
As well as machine status indication, users can set up custom alerts via instant messaging to show when an environmental condition threshold is breached.
Intuitive interface
Information is displayed on an easy-to-understand dashboard accessible locally or remotely via PCs, smartphones or tablet devices to support the fast pace of lean manufacturing environments.

Wired or Wireless Sensors
PULSE can be implemented with either wired or wireless sensors to suit the user’s needs. The wireless option makes installation easier and less time-consuming, while enabling greater flexibility in terms of where sensors are placed on the machine and how many sensors can be added to the measuring system. This enhances the quality of the insights into the environmental events surrounding the CMM.

Real-Time Data Integration
PULSE can provide contextual data for advanced process analysis through tools such as HxGN SFx | Asset Management, Hexagon’s cloud-based advanced remote monitoring and resource management tool. By integrating environmental condition information into a wider data management platform, users can enhance process analysis across manufacturing operations, making actionable insights more comprehensive and enabling optimisation.
